Get Ready for your First Virtual Visit

What you will do:

  Read the Consent Form.
• 2
  Download the Webex app on your mobile phone, tablet and/or computer and create your own account. Refer to the guides on how to download Webex for help in this process.

  To arrange your first visit call ICU on +612 4255 1387 and ask to speak to the nurse looking after your loved one.

Once you have consented to using Webex, we will then set up your loved one so they are ready to connect with you.

What we will do to set up your loved one in the hospital:

  We will provide an iPad in an adjustable stand at the bedside.

  We will set up a private secure account for your loved one and a secure private virtual meeting space for your family. This will trigger an email inviting you to download Webex and join your loved one in the family virtual meeting space.

    If your loved one is able to use the iPad independently then they can communicate with you through Webex freely. We will show them how to do this.
  • 3b
    If your loved one is not able to use the iPad independently then we will help to arrange your first virtual meeting to ensure you are supported when meeting your loved on in the ICU for the first time. Subsequent meetings can be organised at the discretion of the bedside nurse.

Note: Please be aware that Webex will be primarily used for communication between you and your loved one. The nurse looking after your loved one will help to arrange communication using Patient-Family Connect and may choose to engage with you, but they will not be responsible for any direct communication with you through the app.
